Deerhill Farm

Checked with my neighbour Glenn on March 29th regarding snow conditions. This is a picture of my entrance by the dugout. He figures we might be able to get in there sometime in June.

By the third week in May the snow was gone. So, I pulled our little travel trailer north to serve as temporary quarters until we pulled up the 5th wheel. Once I got myself set up, I called my neighbour Brandon who stopped over to figure out how we were going to get my old trailer out of it's spot. The issue was I had built my 8" x 32" deck tight up to the trailer and there were trees in front of and behind the unit.

No problem. Brandon went home, put forks on the front of his tractor and drove it up to my place. As I was planning to build a new deck for the 5th wheel, we weren't too concerned about damaging the old deck. He positioned the forks underneath and lifted the entire deck straight up and moved it out of the way. To my surprise, it wasn't too damaged so I'll be able to salvage a bit of lumber from it. Once the deck was out of the way, it was a simple matter of angling my truck in and hooking up. Last fall we sold the trailer to family and part of the deal was for me to haul the trailer to Leduc. Got up the next morning and did just that.

A week later I hooked up the 5th wheel that we had in storage since I hauled it up from Arizona last September. After an uneventful drive north, my neighbour Glenn stopped by to help me get the new trailer in position. Everything was dry so he drove the unit out into my field and walked it through an opening I made in the yard rail fence. Once in position, we unhooked the truck and pulled out. Easy peasy. Spent a bit of time levelling the unit and called it a day.
