Unfortunately, we weren't able to spend a lot of time at the farm this year due to some unresolved medical issues with Lee. When I was able to get away I spent the majority of my time dealing with maintenence rather than projects. Did get some birdhouses set up, put the finishing touches on the elevated stand and spent time working up loads for my newly acquired 25-06 Rem Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather rifle.
My neighbors Glenn and Branden worked up and seeded my 45 acres to oats this year. They ended up combining the three main pastures but green baled the finger fields & northwest pasture.

We were getting some indications bears had been on our deck when we weren't around so we set up a game camera to check it out. Turns out it's a regular bear jamboree in our yard and on our deck whenever we left. I'm sure they're curious more than anything as we've never had damage.

It felt like 2025 was the year of the Grizzly up at the farm. We had one sow with three cubs sharing our two quarters with us through the entire season. We caught them and others on our game cams and I personally had two actual sightings.

Bears, bears ... and more bears! Along with the grizzlies, the black bear population has exploded most likely due to the oat crops we've been putting in. Nice to see the high number of cinnamon, brown and blond variations within the black bear population. Our resident elk and whitetails are still there but we're getting a noticable increase in mule deer numbers as well. We even had a pack of all black wolves come through.
