Opened up in early May this year. Everything survived the winter and we were looking forward to another great season at our Deerhill Farm. Star's second season up here, Jazz's third.

Spent May and June weekends enjoying the property. Carole & LeVerne joined us for a week in July and we planned on pounding a few fence posts and taking in some R & R. We wanted a fence around our camp site as we had been renting out our land to pasture some cows for the neighbour. And cows wander everywhere, leaving reminders of their presence indiscriminately.

We spent a day clearing trees and bush behind the trailer and making a wide enough trail to get the post pounder through. Later that day we picked up our posts and rented a post pounder from the U.F.A. Ranch Store in Fairview. The next morning we started pounding posts. And pound posts we did, 130 in total. It made for a bit of a long day for our crew, but we got it done. Pretty happy with the results.

A neighbour of ours, Ernie Romb, had built a covered stage some years ago in his farmyard and held annual bluegrass jamborees there. It just so happened that this years event was on while Carole & LeVerne were up so we took a break and went over to Romb's Jamboree. It actually ran for three days and featured local, national and international talent. This years featured headliner was Grand Old Opry veteran entertainer Stonewall Jackson of "Waterloo", "I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water" and "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" fame. Even though he was 78 he gave it a good go.

The day after the Jamboree, the four of us cleared a spot in the trees behind our trailer to make way for a fire pit.

During August we picked up rails for our fence. Lee and I spent a couple of weekends attaching the rails to the posts. It was a bit of a grueling job at times but we got it done. Nice to have our site at least partially fenced in.

It seemed like every time we'd take a drive to town we'd spot game. Here's a nice mule deer buck in late September. And, the dogs thrived up there; no leashes and no restrictions.

Lots of game living on and passing through the property this year. Even had the previous owners horse show up and stay for a month or so until I called them to pick up him up.
